Consulting
Patrick Medlin, President of Advanced Technology Sales & Service, Inc., is a manufacturing strategy consultant skilled at helping manufacturing companies attain world class performance. With 15 years of manufacturing and 8 years of finance experience, he understands the relationship of each process element to the performance of the organization as a whole. Patrick works with manufacturers to define and execute a strategy built upon the principles of Lean Manufacturing – specifically; increasing throughput while reducing inventory and reducing operating expenses.
Patrick’s fifteen years of experience spans CNC Programming, Scheduling, Information Systems, Accounting, Sales and Operations. He has been directly responsible for cost and revenue centers in single and multi-plant situations. His skills and experience in cutting edge manufacturing processes such as laser and water jet cutting were developed from a sound foundation of hands-on, from the ground up, learning by doing approach. As Vice-President of the Metals USA-Contract Manufacturing Group, Patrick led and coordinated the successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and a new multi-site manufacturing software package. At the Metals USA-Contract Manufacturing-High Point location he was successful in consolidating two plants, reducing manpower by 31% and more than doubling that locations profitability. He also reduced raw, WIP and finished goods inventory and increased inventory turns on raw material from 3 times to 14 times annually. He has been responsible for the layout and start-up of several manufacturing facilities. Patrick has what it takes to set up and maintain profitable operations or turn around failing operations into profitable operations.
Following those successes, Patrick co-founded Advanced Technology Sales & Service, Inc., a machine tool sales and service organization that he has owned and operated since 2001. In this role he has helped to build one of the strongest and most successful machine tool distributorships in the Southeastern United States. He has also helped customers achieve greater throughput and ultimately greater profitability by providing manufacturing advice on process and operation improvements and sales strategies. His clients include recognizable names of large corporations like ABB, Freightliner, Mitsubishi, Krispy Kreme, Bauer Compressors and numerous smaller manufacturers like Porter’s Fabrications, Gough Econ, Lawrence Brothers Inc. and Virginia Laser.
